Former 8th graders visited the Pentagon Memorial last year on the Washington D.C. trip. The memorial is dedicated to the 184 people who died at the Pentagon due to the hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 plane crash. Eighth graders were given a card with the name and biography of one of the people who lost their life and were asked to find their bench and remember them as a way to recognize the sacrifice that was made to protect their freedom.

Robert Penn, a Chatham resident and retired Bloomfield firefighter who served at Ground Zero on September 11th, 2001,once again spoke to Chatham Middle School and Chatham High School students today to share his experience as a first responder to the terrorist attack at the World Trade Center. Social Studies Supervisor, Steve Maher continues to invite Penn back to share how the attack helped people look past their differences and unite to help others survive.



The Library of of the Chathams has several upcoming events for teens.




Mark your calendars for an important parent presentation on internet safety delivered by the NJ State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Unit and the Chatham Borough Police Department. Event will be held at Chatham Middle School, Thursday, October 10 at 7 PM.


Reminder Back to School Night is tonight at 6:30 PM. Remember to bring your child's schedule for Day 1.


CMS students had a great first day yesterday! Students loved the freshly painted lockers, walls and the new ceilings. A special welcome to all of our new students and the 6th grade class of 2031! We are looking forward to the 2024-2025 school year.


CMS Open Houses on August 15, 1- 3 pm and August 20th 5- 7 pm. All grade levels are welcome to attend. All students should bring their schedules.

Congratulations to the 8th grade class! We are proud of your accomplisments and the example that you have set for classes to follow! You are on to great things! Students were recognized today at the farewell assembly and then enjoyed a BBQ with their families and fun activities during the afternoon.


6th graders enjoyed Fun in the Sun today with slide, games and ice cream! Perfect weather to spend time with friends and celebrate a great year!!


6th graders performed Clue and Undertale as their final marking period projects for theatre. Pictured below is the cast of Clue.




7th grade theatre students performed Princess and the Pea to close out the last marking period. CHS interns help with the final class productions at CMS.





CMS Pro Leaders and Milton Connection Members helped lead field day at MAS last week. Milton Connection Members visit MAS throughout the year to build relationships with younger students and help with key school events.





Yesterday students and staff members joined together with law enforcement to support Special Olympics in the annual Torch Run. Starting at Southern Boulevard School, runners followed a route that passed all Chatham schools. We were excited to welcome students back to the sidelines this year to cheer the runners on as they passed each school.





Eighth grade applied their civics knowledge in Washington D.C. last week. Students had an opportunity to visit the monuments, memorials, museums and the National Zoo.

Jazz bands in grades 5-12 performed at SDOC District Jazz Night. Students and audience members alike celebrated how jazz brings together talent of all levels to create unique music each and every time a piece is played. CMS wrapped up the spring concert series last night with oustanding performances by the wind ensemble, jazz band and the 6-8th grade bands. Jazz band will be performing again tonight at the SDOC District Jazz Night in the CHS auditorium at 7:00 P.M.





The Board of Education is planning to adopt the 2025/2026 district calendar by the end of this school year. There are three calendars currently under consideration.
