Today marked our very first SBS-Connection visit💙
CMS 8th graders teamed up with kindergarten classes to read Catching Kindness by Kara Mitchell, spreading an important message about compassion and connection. Together, students created kindness link chains filled with thoughtful ways to show care for others, colored beautiful kindness-inspired artwork, and enjoyed time playing and building new friendships.

Students at SBS recently took part in a variety of Social and Emotional Learning activities centered around the theme of Growth Mindset, with a special focus on inventions. Students had the opportunity to interact with new peers, explore the stories behind famous inventions, and put their creativity to work by designing inventions of their own using materials like paper plates, pipe cleaners, and paper towel rolls.

In November, SBS students proudly participated in Yankees HOPE Week (Helping Others Persevere and Excel). Sponsored by the SBS PTO, students collected donations of diapers, books, puzzles, games, and toys, and took part in meaningful service activities like writing letters to veterans and making bagged lunches for those in need. Swipe to see the results of their efforts!
Congratulations to our SBS students for their kindness, generosity, and commitment to helping others! 👏💙

Yesterday, our K–2 students “stuffed the bus” with non-perishable food items collected over the past week to support members of our community facing food insecurity. The SDOC school bus made stops at MAS, SBS, and WAS for pick-ups, with a final delivery to the Helping Hands Food Pantry at The Presbyterian Church of Chatham.
A big shout-out to all our K–2 students for their generosity, and a special thank-you to our MAS students for sharing their smiles along the way!

Shout-out to all our K–2 students who are generously donating their unopened, prepackaged lunch items to the Chatham United Methodist Food Pantry! Our elementary students have been collecting perishable items from their school bought lunch such as milk, apple slices, carrots, yogurt and cheese sticks to support community members facing food insecurities. In partnership with the Borough of Chatham and with support from Helping Hands of Chatham, these items are made available at the Chatham United Methodist Church. Dr. Mary Donohue saw the success of this initiative firsthand during her visit to CUMC yesterday.
Way to go, kids—your kindness makes a difference!

In recognition of School Violence Awareness Week, observed statewide beginning the third Monday in October, SBS celebrated Peace Day on Wednesday, October 15.
