The NAMM Foundation’s mission is to advance active participation in music-making across the lifespan through scientific research, philanthropic giving, and public service programs. Supported by the music products industry, the foundation works to create more music makers, promote the benefits of music, and ensure access to music learning for all.
Congratulations to all our music teachers and staff! 🎵🎉

🕰️ Did you know there’s a time capsule buried at Lafayette Avenue School?
Back in 1976, during the Bicentennial celebration, a time capsule was buried right in front of the LAF flagpole. Today members of the Buildings and Grounds team, Ken Taylor and Steve Regan, assisted in excavating the The Jerseymen's Club Lafayette Middle School time capsule. The unearthing was attended by former teachers and current LAF principal Cheryl Russo.🎉
Students will get a chance to explore what’s inside during a special assembly in June, joined by former students and teachers from 1976. Among those present today were (L - R) Steve Regan, Ken Taylor, Cheryl Russo, Karen Golashesky/Wen (Home Economics), Grace Gluck (Art), Michael Chupka (former student and English teacher), and Bob Gluck (Industrial Arts)
Stay tuned to see what's inside! 🕰️📦⏳

Lafayette Avenue School wrapped up an exciting One Book, One School month of reading this week! The school read I Survived The Great Alaska Earthquake and I Survived The Shark Attacks of 1916 by Lauren Tarshis.📚✨
Students put their teamwork to the test during LAF’s annual Escape Room, designed by library para Stephanie Azzaro. Trapped in an Alaskan mine, they worked together to solve puzzles and unlock their way to safety—what an adventure! 🧩🔐
Next up: students are eagerly counting down the days until they meet author Lauren Tarshis on May 7th! 🙌📖

Kicking off tomorrow: CHS Students Against Cancer is proud to host its 2nd Annual Warrior Week from April 10–16! 💛
Seven Chatham restaurants are teaming up to make a difference, generously donating proceeds to Bailey’s Warriors and Memorial Sloan Kettering in support of cancer research and awareness.
Stop by one, two—or all seven!—to show your support and enjoy some great food for a great cause.
Spread the word!🍽️

While AI tools can generate code, the human thinking behind it has never been more important. This winter, a dedicated group of CHS students showed that computer science is about much more than typing—it’s about logic, creativity, and problem-solving.
Throughout January and February, the five-week after-school program introduced 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students to the fundamentals of digital design and algorithmic thinking. Participants explored how to plan solutions, troubleshoot challenges, and think like programmers.
Programs like Coding with Girls highlight that computer science builds critical thinking skills that extend far beyond the screen—empowering students with tools they can use across all STEM fields. 👩💻🚀
