Pop-up snow day celebration at Washington Avenue School!

Today, Washington Avenue School students took part in a Team Makers Workshop. A longtime student favorite, these workshops are jam-packed with entertaining, interactive, and cooperative activities designed to teach the importance of teamwork, mutual respect, and creative problem-solving as students work together to complete each challenge.

The Winter Concerts continue! ❄️🎶 Tomorrow, our WAS first- and second-graders will take the stage to share some favorite winter holiday tunes. We can’t wait to see their hard work shine!

Yesterday, our K–2 students “stuffed the bus” with non-perishable food items collected over the past week to support members of our community facing food insecurity. The SDOC school bus made stops at MAS, SBS, and WAS for pick-ups, with a final delivery to the Helping Hands Food Pantry at The Presbyterian Church of Chatham.
A big shout-out to all our K–2 students for their generosity, and a special thank-you to our MAS students for sharing their smiles along the way!

Shout-out to all our K–2 students who are generously donating their unopened, prepackaged lunch items to the Chatham United Methodist Food Pantry! Our elementary students have been collecting perishable items from their school bought lunch such as milk, apple slices, carrots, yogurt and cheese sticks to support community members facing food insecurities. In partnership with the Borough of Chatham and with support from Helping Hands of Chatham, these items are made available at the Chatham United Methodist Church. Dr. Mary Donohue saw the success of this initiative firsthand during her visit to CUMC yesterday.
Way to go, kids—your kindness makes a difference!

Washington Avenue School students and families collected more than 200 items over the past two weeks to donate to the CUMC Food Pantry ahead of the holidays. With the help of our first-grade students—who proudly carried the donations out for delivery to parent volunteers Mr. and Mrs. Perinotti - the items were delivered just in time to support the pantry during the busy holiday season.

The Halloween spirit was alive and well at Washington Avenue School! The CHS Marching Band and students joined the K-2 parade, keeping this long-standing tradition going strong. 🎃🎺
