Meteorologist, John Marshall, visited MAS today to teach students about the weather. Marshall taught students about different types of clouds and the science of the weather events. He also showed them the tools a meteorologist uses to make their weather forecast. Students had the opportunity to deliver the five day forecast and report on significant weather events such as hurricanes and tornados. MAS students are fortunate to have a weather station at our school to follow weather patterns courtesy of a CEF grant. This assembly was mad possible by donations to the MAS PTO.

MAS is fortunate to border Kelley's Pond! We love being able to teach students about the natural resources in their community. Students were partnered with 8th graders from CMS to assess the overall health of the pond's ecosystem, as part of our Earth Week science lessons. Students performed water quality tests on samples from the pond and observed organisms living at the pond to evaluate the overall health of a pond ecosystem. We are grateful that the weather has allowed for so many great outdoor learning opportunities during Earth Week.

When your principal was the former science supervisor there was certain to be an all day solar eclipse celebration! Students danced into the eclipse assembly to a special eclipse playlist before they hit the blacktop to witness the celestial event immediately before dismissal.
