Guiding Principles
The School District of the Chathams, recognizing that premier educational institutions must examine their current practices in contexts both within and beyond their communities, strives to:
  • Equip each of our students with the competencies and awareness to succeed academically, professionally, and socio-emotionally in a global environment.
  • Align our practices and policies with current, evidence-based research in the fields of learning, child development, and education.
  • Ensure that there is equity of opportunity for each student to access all curricular and extra-curricular programs.
  • Promote professional growth among our staff through ongoing collaboration, feedback, and self-reflection.

Vision Statement
Learners and educators of the School District of the Chathams collaborate effectively, think critically and independently, express themselves creatively, communicate fluently and precisely in a variety of contexts, reflect continually, and respond ethically to diverse challenges. Through the development of these capacities, students will assume productive roles in our global society.

  • ChASE 2015-2016 (UPDATE)

Chatham Association for Support in Special Education

The goal of ChASE is to provide support and advocacy for families, to develop more effective communication between parents and special services personnel, to provide programs and information for parents and professionals on current topics in special education, and to keep abreast of federal, state and local legislation that may affect special education services.

Our first ChASE meeting will be a Parent Support Night and will be held on October 8, 2015 (previously scheduled for October 7) from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Office of Special Services, 233 Lafayette Avenue.

This is an opportunity for parents to discuss issues regarding special education in our district.  We also hope to establish parent liaisons in each of our schools and for students who attend out of district placements.

Dr. D’Elia will also be available to answer your questions.  All are welcomed to attend.  Please come and join us!
